Joel Schumacher is geboren op 29 augustus 1939 in de Amerikaanse Stad New York. Hij is een Amerikaans filmregisseur, scenarioschrijver en producent.

Hij is bij de Batman fans vooral bekend door zijn Batman films Batman Forever en de grootste Batman flop ooit Batman & Robin.
